Here is a easy, quick, and delicious dessert recipe that was given to me, years ago, by an older church woman, while we lived in Willis, CA. What is better than the taste is the ease of preparation. Here it goes:
Dump cake
1 box yellow cake mix
35-40 oz of fruit pie filling or most any canned fruit
1 stick of butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dump fruit/pie filling in a 9 x 13 pan.
Sprinkle cake mix atop fruit mixture, distributing evenly. Place slices of
butter evenly over cake mix. Bake for 35 to 45 min or until cake mix is golden brown.
Wasn't that simple?
This recipe is great for potlucks. It's cheap, easy, and makes plenty, and the possibilities are endless with cake mixes, fruit fillings and toppings (cinnamon, chocolate morsels, nuts). I have made apple, peach and cherry versions of this recipe including mixed fruit fillings and it has turned out great everytime. Sometimes I have topped the cake mix with cinnamon too. I hope to try a cherry pie filling version topped with a chocolate cake mix some day. ENJOY!

Yummy! I don't believe I've ever been to a potluck without at least one dump cake. I'm pretty sure I've brought my share, too. :o)
I have never had dump cake but I wrote down the recipe and am sure to try it soon. It just sounds sooooo yummy.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I want this now. Mmmmmmmmm.
April, this is a recipe I grew up with, but my mom always mixed the fruit with a can of crushed pineapple before adding the yellow cake mix. We also sprinkled chopped nuts on the top before baking. It is really good warm with vanilla ice cream on top!
I have just got to try making this cake. I've seen the recipe before, but have never tried. Why? I don't know. This weekend sounds like a good time to try it. I was thinking that canned peaches might be good in this cake.
